July 1, 2026
Dear GfV members,
In cooperation with the German Association for the Control of Viral Diseases (DVV), the GfV will once again present the “Clinical Virology” Science Award this year. The award will recognize outstanding scientific achievements that provide significant new insights in the field of clinical virology and are relevant to public infection control. Nominations may be submitted by members of the DVV and the GfV, as well as by university faculty members of the GfV.
In addition, the DVV will present the Science Award for “Viral Infections in Public Health.” Members of the DVV, university faculty members of the GfV, and department heads at the federal, state, and local government levels are eligible to submit nominations. The award recognizes scientific achievements that present new findings in the field of viral epidemiology and in the management of outbreaks and infections of viral diseases, and that relate to the responsibilities of public infection control in Germany.
Self-nominations are not permitted. Applications, including a brief evaluation and justification of the nomination (approximately two pages), as well as a list of publications (with the relevant publications on which the nomination is based clearly indicated) and a curriculum vitae, must be submitted electronically as a single PDF document by July 31, 2026, to office@dvv-ev.de. Please find a detailed description of the announcements here.
Sincerely, the GfV Board
