The Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM) is delighted to invite you to the annual conference 2026 in Berlin! The organizing committee represents the Freie Universität Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Technische Universität Berlin, which are integrated into the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) as group of Universities of Excellence.

We expect many interesting scientific contributions and inspiring discussions during our international conference to provide opportunities for scientific exchange, networking and future collaboration as well as career options for young scientists. Take the opportunity to meet your colleagues, discuss science, and enjoy an exciting scientific program with the following main topics:

  • Microbial Communities and interactions
  • Host-pathogen interactions
  • Microbial immunity mechanisms
  • Microbial physiology and metabolism
  • Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology

The conference will take place from March 22 – 25, 2026 at the Henry-Ford-Bau of the Freie Universität Berlin, which is located in the beautiful south-western part of Berlin-Dahlem.

Make sure you plan enough time for sightseeing in Berlin, to visit and enjoy historical landmarks and modern architectures, the diversity of art and culture and the lively atmosphere in the capital of Germany.
