Dear colleagues,
We are doing something new! The 27th Essen Vaccination Day will be held both on site and online! We look forward to welcoming everyone who can make it to the Robert Koch House, but for the first time we are also making it possible to participate online.
Exciting topics are planned: RSV and the resulting burden of disease, including among older citizens, is increasingly coming into focus. And the annual flu epidemic will return in January 2026 at the latest. Added to this are the cases of avian influenza in mammals (including in dairy cows in the USA), which urgently need to be monitored further. What is the potential risk to humans?
How do we deal with the STIKO recommendation on vaccination against dengue fever? This does not make it easy for clinicians to advise their patients.
TBE in North Rhine-Westphalia? Yes! Further information will be provided by the head of the TBE consultation laboratory.
West Nile virus in NRW? No, not (yet). Why is there no vaccine for humans yet?
