On behalf of the board of our professional society, the German Society for General and Hospital Hygiene, and the organizing committee headed by Prof. Dr. Walter Popp, I would like to cordially invite you to our conference in Essen from 16 to 17 May 2025.
At this conference - in contrast to our Capital Congress in Berlin - we will focus on the topics and work of the sections, working groups and the expert commission of our specialist society DGKH.
The focus will initially be on the classic topics of hospital hygiene: news from the KRINKO, cooperation with service providers, antisepsis, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and reprocessing of endoscopes, aspects of ventilation technology and hospital construction. The requirements for training and further training in hygiene, perspectives for further training as a hospital hygienist and aspects of care "from practice for practice" will also be discussed. Other focal points include outbreak management, water and wastewater hygiene and environmental hygiene topics.
The newly founded New Generation working group with a focus on career-related topics will introduce itself.
Last but not least, the demands on us to take a stand on general and socially relevant topics of hygiene and infection prevention and to make recommendations led us to change our name to the German Society for General and Hospital Hygiene. We will therefore also deal with new relevant topics on which we are called upon to act as a specialist hygiene society. The focus will be on developments in crisis, war and disaster medicine and the associated challenges for hygiene.
Unfortunately, we will have to deal with this topic more intensively in the near future from a hygiene perspective. In particular, this will involve the question of compliance with standards in emergency situations. At the conference, we will deal intensively with the destruction of infrastructure caused by war and disasters and its impact on healthcare and hygiene.
We are sure that this will provide an insight into the activities of our professional association, but also into the future challenges for the new generation of hygienists and all those responsible for infection prevention. Enclosed you will find the current program so that you can decide in time to participate in this conference.
