Dear colleagues,

we are pleased to announce the 12th European Seminar in Virology (EuSeV) entitled “Navigating through DNA viruses – novel disease associations and common host manipulations”. The meeting will take place as a Live Meeting at the University of Bologna Residential Center in Bertinoro, Italy, May 29-31, 2026. This year the meeting will be organized by the European Society for Virology (www.eusv.eu) together with the DFG-funded research group FOR5200 DEEP-DV (https://deep-dv.org/wp/).

DNA viruses are widespread pathogens of humans, animals and plants which share strategies of host manipulation, however, have also diversified during their evolution. This Seminars of Virology has a twofold aim: (i) to bring together experts in the field working on different DNA viruses to illuminate commonalities on how these viruses manipulate their respective hosts; (ii) to highlight exciting novel disease associations and pathomechanisms of DNA viruses with the implication to pave new avenues for prevention and therapy. Special emphasis will be given to recent findings linking DNA virus infections to the development of neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis and dementia.

Abstract (oral and poster presentations) deadline: April 15, 2026.
Please submit your abstract (including title, authors, affiliation(s), text of max. 300 words) to bertinoro-abstract@gmx.de
