German Congress for Laboratory Medicine 2025: Science for Precision Medicine
Annual Conference of the DGKL e. V. &
Symposium for Biomedical Analysis of the DVTA e. V.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues,
Leipzig has over 1000 years of history and one of the oldest universities in Germany. Leipzig has always been a cosmopolitan metropolis. Leipzig combines tradition and transformation. The current political, social and scientific environment is challenging. In laboratory medicine, too, we have to face up to current challenges. Scientific discourse is a prerequisite for finding answers to current questions.
"Science for precision medicine" - this is the motto of the German Congress of Laboratory Medicine 2025 taking place on October 23 and 24 at the Congress Centrum Leipzig (CCL), to which we cordially invite you today.
Precision medicine is not possible without diagnostics. "Science" creates the basis for precision diagnostics and translates this into the clinic. The tasks are manifold: How can we ensure innovative translational research in laboratory diagnostics and individual diagnostics, e.g. in the context of rare diseases, individual disease constellations, or in the case of scarce or rare material (e.g. cerebrospinal fluid, punctates) within the framework of IVDR? How can we transform findings from molecular oncology into non-oncological medical fields? Can not only genetic, but also epigenetic information and post-translational protein modifications improve the diagnosis of oncological and non-oncological diseases? How can omics data be incorporated into routine diagnostics? What relevance do AI approaches have for the interpretation of omic data sets, but also for multi-dimensional data from laboratory medicine in combination with other diagnostic and clinical information, and can we derive new information about pathophysiological organ interactions from multi-dimensional data?
We also offer you new methods of digital analysis in diagnostic applications and the opportunity to work on morphological criteria in hemato-oncological questions in microscopy courses.
The DGKL and the DVTA are looking forward to discussing these and other questions in a scientific discourse in Leipzig and to deepening them using practical examples of diagnostics and analytics. The aim is to exchange ideas and discuss how these findings can best be communicated to society in order to convey the systemic relevance of laboratory medicine for healthcare, early detection, prevention and aftercare to decision-makers and the general public.
We cordially invite you to the trade fair, music and book city of Leipzig - come to Leipzig to get new ideas in the context of medical and scientific exchange and a rich cultural offering!
Yours sincerely,
Your congress management
Prof. Dr. med. Berend Isermann (DGKL)
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Uta Ceglarek (DGKL)
