German Congress for Laboratory Medicine 2026: "Laboratory Medicine: Translating Science into Patient Care"

Annual Conference of the DGKL e. V. &
Symposium for Biomedical Analysis of the DVTA e. V.

Dear Sirs and Madams, dear colleagues,

Hamburg is a city of science, trade, and open horizons—a gateway to the world with a long tradition in medicine, research, and innovation. In times of major political, social, and health challenges, laboratory medicine plays a key role: it combines scientific knowledge with immediate benefits for patients, making it an indispensable foundation for modern healthcare.

Under the motto "Laboratory Medicine: Translating Science into Patient Care," the German Congress for Laboratory Medicine (DKLM) will take place in Hamburg from September 30 to October 2, 2026, and we would like to cordially invite you to attend.

Science is the driving force behind innovation in diagnostics—and laboratory medicine is at the heart of dynamic scientific and technological change. It enables personalized medicine, opens up groundbreaking diagnostic possibilities through new approaches, improves care, and helps to find answers to complex medical questions.

The congress combines high-caliber scientific presentations, practice-oriented workshops, networking opportunities, and stimulating expert discussions to create a diverse, interdisciplinary program. It addresses key future topics in diagnostics and covers new molecular methods, high-throughput technologies, digital developments such as AI, and the integration of multidimensional data. It covers everything from basic science to innovative approaches in the diagnosis and treatment of multifactorial diseases. At the same time, it highlights the importance of targeted quality management and increasing regulation in healthcare—always with a focus on patient safety.

The DGKL and the DVTA look forward to exploring these topics in greater depth with you, providing new scientific impetus, and further developing practical applications.

Yours sincerely,
Your congress management

Prof. Dr. Thomas Renné
Christiane Maschek, M.A.
